Portuguese nationality after residence time

You can require portuguese nationality in this conditions:

• You’re over 18 years old or emancipated;
• Legally reside in Portugal for at least 5 years;;
• You know the portuguese language enough.

People who have legal residence for 5 or 6 years, according to the case, in Portugal, have the right to request the portuguese nationality. The legal residence in this case is proven by residence visas that can be for study, work or any other modality.

Applicants for the portuguese nationality who aren’t from a portuguese speaking country needs a 6 year time to obtain the nationality in this conditions.
